李佩，女，江苏镇江人，“两弹一星”元勋郭永怀先生的夫人，被称作“中科院最美的玫瑰”、“中关村的明灯”、“年轻的老年人”。她曾长期担任中国科学技术大学和中国科学院大学的英语教授。1918年出生于北平。中学就读于美国教会学校贝满(Bridgeman)女中，1937年考入北京大学经济学系，1938年至1941年在昆明国立西南联合大学学习，曾任西南联大学生会副主席。2017年1月12日1时26分在北京中日友好医院逝世，享年99岁。

传奇人物

大学毕业后，李佩在重庆中国劳动协会工作，参与诸多进步活动，创办工人夜校和工人托儿所。李佩受到中共地下党员影响，曾帮助把美国劳动协会的捐款送到延安解放区。李佩反对国民党独裁统治，参加了包括较场口事件等多个中共领导的进步群众运动。1947年李佩赴美国康奈尔大学工业与劳工关系学院学习工商管理。次年，李

郭永怀先生夫人李佩佩与相识在西南联大的学长郭永怀结婚。

1951年李佩受康奈尔大学语言学系系主任Shadack教授的邀请，给准备派作外交官的美国学生上中文课。1956年10月，著名力学家郭永怀带着妻子李佩和女儿历经周折从美国回到了祖国。李佩曾在中科院行政管理局西郊办公室任副主任。西郊办公室负责粮店、菜市场、餐馆、医院和中小学校的后勤建设工作，这为今后的中关村科学城打下基础。中关村道路两侧白杨树就是她组织科技人员栽种的，这些白杨树曾是中关村人的骄傲。

1961年，李佩到中国科学技术大学教授英文。郭永怀日理万机忙于科研，经常出差，习惯了他说走就走的工作方式，只知道他是在做重要工作。

1966年“文革”开始，郭永怀因承担重要工作而受到特别保护，但李佩未能幸免。留学美国的经历让她成为“美国特务”，在单位接受审查。

1968年12月5日，从核导弹试验基地乘飞机返京的郭永怀，因飞机失事不幸牺牲，终年59岁。12月25日，中华人民共和国内务部授予郭永怀烈士称号。处理完郭永怀的后事，李佩仍然在单位接受审查，初中毕业的女儿郭芹自愿回到吉林白城插队的地方。

李佩1970年初随中国科大迁到了合肥，留下因生病在家休养的郭芹一人在京。从1970年到1973年底，她在科大接受隔离审查，监督劳动，不能工作，来往的信件也要被检查，只是没有人贴她的大字报。

1974年，中国科学院各所外派留学人员集中到科大培训英语，李佩在饱受造反派不公正对待的情况下，仍然坚持为最早两期出国人员培训班教授英文。在老领导郁文的过问和关照下，1976年暑假李佩奉调回北京。

1978年，李佩白手起家组织创办了中科院研究生院外语教学部。她编写的英语教材荣获国家优秀教材奖。她还举办了国内首期应用语言研究生班,为该学科在国内正式建立做了开拓性的工作，并誉为“中国应用语言学之母。”2017年1月12日1时26分在北京中日友好医院逝世，享年99岁。
